So I
got my IPSY November bag in the mail a few weeks ago and have used the
products to see how I like them (except for one and I'll explain why). So if you are interested in seeing what I got and how I liked
the items, keep on reading!
Let's
start this review by reviewing the bag for this month. It's a galaxy style bag.
It is very colorful and cool looking, but definitely not my favorite. Honestly,
this bag was my least favorite bag this time. It's not exactly my style, so I'm
not sure yet what I will do with it. The material also seemed a bit cheap feeling as
well.
To
start out with the products, I received the Beaute Basics Eye Crayon in Sahara
Gold. You use it like an eye shadow, but it's in a crayon form. The color is
pretty light. It's definitely a pretty gold color, but a little too light. You
have to put on quite a bit to see it. This product also creases pretty easily.
If you want to wear this out, I'd suggest using an eye shadow primer. I used it
with and without, and unfortunately it still creases either way. But it does
crease less with the primer.
The
next product I received was the Albertini International Warm Love Pumpkin Exfoliating Mask (sample size). This product I have not tried out. I'm a little
wary trying face products like this since my skin is so sensitive. I can break
out easy, so I usually steer away from products like this. The scent is
pumpkin, but it's a very natural smell. It's not overpowering at all. This
little item will be a gift for someone. That is one of the nice things about
Ipsy, if you don't like the products, they make great little gifts.
Third
item I got in my bag was a Crown pointed crease brush. I had never heard
of this brand before Ipsy. The brush part feels very cheap. Also, the brush is pretty dense so when I applied it to my crease area, I felt like I was
poking my eye. Even if I was gentle applying shadow to my eye, it would still
feel like I was brushing it on too hard. Therefore, I'm not a big fan of this
brush. I'll keep on trying it and see how I like it. Not the best brush from first
experience.
Another
item I received was the Jessie's Girl Eye Shadow Primer (sample size). I have
heard of this brand before Ipsy, so I was interested to see how I liked this
primer. It's a light nude color, which blends in well for my skin tone. When
you first apply it, it feels pretty wet. But once you blend it out, it's not
too bad. From what I've seen it works well. I do like the applicator. It makes
it easy to apply it to your eyelids. I think this product is good and I'll keep
on using it.
Last
item, but most definitely not least, I received the Smashbox Full Exposure
Mascara (sample size) in Jet Black. I have heard of this mascara in the past
and I was excited when I got it in my bag! This mascara's wand is really big.
But I love it. It goes on well and makes your lashes thick and long. The only
downside I would say about this mascara (besides the fact that it's an
expensive mascara) is that it makes your lashes spidery looking. I know some
girls like that. But personally, I'm not as into that style. It's also a bit
tougher to take off at night. But it's still a great mascara and I really enjoy
using it! This item was by far my favorite item in the bag this month.
So
there is my review for my November Ipsy Glam Bag. Obviously, most of the products
I received I didn't like as much. Honestly, this was my least favorite bag I've
received so far. But it's always nice to try out new products! I'm looking forward to
the next bag I receive in December. What did you receive in your bag this
month? Did you like what you got? Let me know in the comments below!
During this season, I thought I
would take some time and think about all that I am thankful for. I know that a
lot of Facebook statuses go around during the month of November saying all the
things that everyone is thankful for. Honestly, I never contribute in those
posts. But I will say, it is a good thing sometimes to sit back and really
think about all that you have been blessed with. Even if times are tough, we
have blessings in our lives that should make us grateful. To make this post not
too long (I don't want to bore anyone), I'm going to list four things I am
thankful for.
To start off my list, I would
like to share my thankfulness to the One Who made my life what it is today. My
Savior, Jesus Christ. Without having Him in my life, my whole life would be
chaos. I wouldn't know how to live or have anyone to turn to. We are all
sinners, we all make mistakes. But God gave His Son so that we all could be
saved. I could never thank Him enough for giving His Son for me. He loved me
(and you) so much, that He let His son die as a sacrifice for our sins. Jesus
didn't sin. But He died for our mistakes, so that we could be saved. It's an
amazing love that I can't even fully comprehend. But I will forever be
thankful. His grace is amazing. I
wrote a post about what I believe if you are interested in learning more about
it, click the link here.
Second, I would like to state
that I am thankful for my husband. We've been together a long time. There have
been many ups and downs in our relationship. We have been married now for a
little over a year and a half. We are still newly married and have a TON to learn, but I am thankful
for a loving husband. He's my best friend and I am so glad I can share anything
with him. He listens to me and works hard for our family. I love him so much
and thank God that He put my husband in my life.
Next, I'm thankful for the job
God has given me. My working life has not been easy for me. If I'm going to be
completely honest, working outside the home has never been an interest to me.
I've struggled with hard jobs in the past. But I learned things from each
experience and thankful for the lessons I've learned. I was blessed with this
new job as a Nanny at the end of June (2015). I am beyond grateful for the
loving family I get to work for. It has helped my life be less chaotic and my
relationship with my husband better. Also, it's a job where I feel like I am
actually helping. The others jobs I've had, I felt useless. Even though I was
helping the company, I felt as though I was working for nothing (except money)
and I always wanted my job to mean more than money. So I am so grateful for
this amazing job that the Lord has blessed me with.
Lastly, and this one is going to
maybe sound silly, but I am thankful for Skype. My immediate family does not
live close to me. My sister and her family live in a different state and so do
my parents. So I do not get the chance to see my family very often. That's why
I am so thankful for Skype. It allows me to Skype with my family anytime I want
to. Believe me, we Skype a lot, almost every day. It's great though! I feel
like I am a part of their lives more and they are more a part of mine. I became
an aunt for the first time in April of this year so being able to see the
little one grow up is so exciting for me! Skype has been a huge blessing in my
life this year.
Those are my four things I
wanted to mention in this post. Obviously, I am more grateful than just those
things. But if I were to list everything, this post would be so long I doubt
anyone would want to finish reading it. Thanksgiving time has always been one
of my favorite times of the year. So I thought it would be appropriate to share
what I am thankful for. Share in the comments below what you are thankful for!
Ipsy is a subscription service that you receive each month.
The service is $10 a month for everything (including shipping and taxes). It's
a makeup service and you can receive makeup, nail polish, makeup tools, face
products, etc. They mostly come in sample sizes but you usually receive at
least one full size product in your bag. You receive a new bag each month along
with new products.
When you first
start, they have you fill out a survey. This survey is so that they know what
type products you like. Once you're done with that, you will probably be put on
a waiting list. They do not bill you though until you are going to receive a
bag that month. Now that I am receiving bags each month, they bill me every
month for $10.
I have been with
Ipsy now for awhile and feel like I can give you a good review on it. I joined
back in July 2015 and received my first bag in August. They told me I would be
put on a waiting list and if I did certain things (such as advertising through
Facebook and such) I would be able to get my bag quicker. I didn't do that and
just waited it out. By the next month, I received my bag. So I didn't mind
waiting.
What I like about
Ipsy is that you receive new products every month. Also, you get more makeup
products in your bag than anything else, which is what I wanted. Along with the
items, you receive a new bag each month. After awhile, you may have too many
bags to know what to do with. But they do make great gifts for people. In
addition, after about a week of receiving your bag, you will receive an email
asking you to review the items. I find that this is a great feature because you
can let them know if you like receiving these certain products or not.
For example, I'm
not one who likes to receive face products. I'd rather just have makeup
products. My skin is very sensitive so I'm more hesitant on using different
facial items. When I answer their questions about each product, I let them know
if I like receiving these products or not (they give you options to click on
like: Love this type of product! Or Don't like this type product at all).
Eventually, they get the hint and will send you less of those items. It won't
happen right away, I'm still receiving some face products, but I usually only
get one of those things in each bag.
I may not use Ipsy
forever, but for right now I thoroughly enjoy it. It's fun to open your mailbox
and find your Ipsy bag in the mail! For my blog, I will be posting each month
what I received in my Ipsy bag and let you know how I feel about the products. Hopefully,
this will give you a chance to see if you are interested in having this type of product or not!
I hope this article
helped you understand more about the Ipsy subscription service.
